Today, California Health & Human Services Agency (CalHHS) Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly expressed his heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Nancy Bargmann, Director of the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), for her service to Californians. Director Bargmann recently announced she will retire in September, after serving as DDS Director since 2016.
“For eight years, Nancy has led the California Department of Developmental Services’ work to ensure Californians with developmental disabilities have the opportunity to make choices and lead independent, productive, and fulfilling lives as members of their communities. Nancy’s commitment to this important work has been unwavering and she has been a tireless champion for the more than 400,000 Californians the department serves.
“Nancy’s incredible leadership and efforts have better positioned the state to modernize the developmental services system through the development of California’s Master Plan for Developmental Services and the implementation of the rate study. The Newsom Administration is committed to continuing this important work, with the final Master Plan to be released in March of 2025.
“On behalf of CalHHS, I thank Nancy for her years of service and commitment to creating a Healthy California for ALL individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.”
